My name is Mike Smart and I joined the Trailview ministry team in October, 2006. I've been asked to tell you a little bit about myself.

•  I grew up in Winnipeg , MB , where I became a Christian when I was four. My family started attending the Transcona Alliance Church , and my parents continue to attend there.

•  I was baptized when I was 15, and shortly afterwards experienced God's call on my life to full-time ministry.

•  I graduated in 1989 from the University of Winnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and from the Mennonite Brethren Bible College with a Bachelor of Religious Studies.

•  I married Tina in 1991. I had to import her from Bolivia , South America , where she grew up on a Mennonite colony. She loves children, and works as an Educational Associate in the public school system. We have two children; Jonathan was born in 1994 and Jocelyn was born in 1996.

•  I graduated from Canadian Theological Seminary in 1995.

•  I have served as a pastor in various places and positions. I interned in Kelowna Alliance Church in the summer of 1994. I served as the Associate Pastor of Transcona Alliance Church in Winnipeg from 1995-1997. I then served as the Associate Pastor of Westgate Alliance Church in Saskatoon from 1997-2001. From 2001-2006 I served as the Senior Pastor of the Nipawin Alliance Church . Now I serve as the Associate Pastor at Trailview here in Swift Current.

•  I enjoy visiting with people, reading, writing, eating, and exercising (actually, I'm not sure how enjoyable the exercising part is, but I do it anyhow).

•  I'm trying to learn to appreciate country music since everyone is Saskatchewan tells me that is the kind of music we'll be singing and playing in heaven. In the meantime, I really enjoy engaging in the praise and worship at church.

•  I tend to be a structured person who is content to help out behind the scenes, and the only thing I can think of that I enjoy doing publicly and spontaneously is play the drums.
